Dixie Lynn Braden

March 18, 1941 — January 13, 2023

Erlanger

Dixie Braden, 81, of Erlanger died on January 13, 2023 of lung cancer. She was born Dixie Lynn Ruark on March 18, 1941 in Pullman, WA, the second daughter of Dale and Marie Ruark. On June 9, 1962 she married her high-school sweetheart, Bart Braden, in Pullman. In the space of just nine years they moved across the country to Bridgeport, CT, then back across to Eugene, OR, then back east again to Charlottesville, VA, and finally settled in Erlanger. Dixie loved to travel, and saw nearly every one of the lower 48 US states, and also Canada, Ireland, England and France, carefully preserving her photographs in numerous albums, all neatly labeled. She and Bart celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary as part of a week-long family reunion at Topsail Island in North Carolina in 2012, and their 60th wedding anniversary at home in Erlanger in 2022. Dixie volunteered for many years at Booth Hospital in Florence, KY. She was also on a local women's bowling team from 1976 to 1986. She is survived by her husband Bart, by her children Dale (Sandy Braden), Laura (Mark Lindenschmidt) and Michael (Roxanne Trimble), and by her sister, Kay Grover; and by her grandchildren Steven Braden, and Beth and Julia Lindenschmidt (Jonathan Lindenschmidt is deceased). Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill, KY. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to a cancer research institution.
