James L. Hummeldorf
Morning View – Passed away on March 18, 2021 at the age of 86, after several days at home surrounded by those he loved. Jim proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. After serving his country, he earned an Electrical Engineering degree and Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Kentucky. He was a very accomplished businessman as the President and Founder of Actus, Inc. Jim was also the founder of the KY Santa Gertrudis Breeders Association. One of his favorite professions was through the Kenton County School District, where he worked as a substitute teacher and custodian for Scott High School before retiring. He was a man of many hats – literally and figuratively. A huge UK basketball fan, avid farmer, and tree planter. Jim was devoted to his family and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Gayle Hummeldorf (nee Cross); children, Antoinette Hummeldorf, Regina (Dan) Sunderhaus (April, Danielle, Adam), Loretta (John) Olmstead (Derek, Christian, Shaine), James (Beth) Hummeldorf II (Ian, Gabrielle, James, Lukas), Eric Hummeldorf (Ashley, Chelsea, Kiefer, Hailee, Austin, Erica, Kaleigh, Keanna), CAPT (USN-ret) Kurt (Dotty) Hummeldorf DMD (Jackson, Braydon, Griffin), Francine (Darren) Thomas (Taylor, Paige, Margaret, Emily, Gabrielle, Cole), Danny McKinley (Cesiley), Aaron (Wendy) Hummeldorf (Cassandra, Logan), Valerie (Larry) Lambert (Devin, Kylie), Jimae (Tad) Harms (Vivienna, Maximus), Ashlee Brown (Silas); 15 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sr. Mary Jo Hummeldorf, CDP; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Austin Hummeldorf; siblings, Raymond Hummeldorf, Betty Hill, Frances Cassidy; parents, Raymond and Beatrice Hummeldorf and his biological mother who passed when he was 2 years old, Frances Hummeldorf.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 5 – 8 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:30 pm at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Wednesday, March 24th at 11:30 am at St. Benedict Church, 338 E. 17th Street, Covington, KY 41014. Entombment and Military Funeral Honors will immediately follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
