Jerald Joseph Edgington (Jerry),
Son of the late Charles and Kathryn Edgington was born July 19, 1933, in Covington, Kentucky was a graduate of St. Augustine Elementary School and Holy Cross High School and attended Villa Madonna College. He was devout Catholic and faithful member of St. Benedict’s parish.
He was united in holy matrimony to Henrietta “Joan” Edgington on May 4, 1957. Together, they had seven children.
While in the U.S. Army, Jerry was afforded the opportunity to play baseball and was stationed at Wiesbaden, Germany. He had an unquenchable passion for sports and served as an athlete, umpire, referee, coach, mentor and avid Reds and Bengals fan. He will sorely miss the St. Benedict’s festival this upcoming weekend where he was known to enjoy a limburger cheese sandwich and a cold beer.
He will be forever missed by his children Jeffrey (Judy), Michael, Lisa, Lori (Polly), Gerald (Debbie), Theodore (Alecia), his 13 grandchildren and his many great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Christopher (Angie) and his great granddaughter Lilyana Auxier.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you make a donation to the Chris Edgington scholarship fund at Covington Catholic High School.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, from 9:30 am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Burial will immediately follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with military honors.
