Johanna G. (Loshaw) Chafer

Johanna G. (Loshaw) Chafer, age 73, of Florence, KY, formerly of Vanderbilt, MI, passed away on Sunday January 14, 2024 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.  Johanna was born December 12, 1950 in Vanderbilt, MI, the daughter of Ray and Marjorie (Brado) Loshaw.  Johanna graduated from Vanderbilt High School in 1968 and attended Davenport College.  On September 20, 1969 she married David Chafer in Vanderbilt, MI. 

Johanna was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, and friend to many. During her lifetime she served as township treasurer, girl scout leader, and branch librarian.  After moving to Kentucky in 1990, Johanna worked for the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Staples, and in human resources for Catholic Health Initiatives.  Johanna enjoyed traveling the country with her family, geocaching, fishing, and playing cards and internet games with her friends and family.

Johanna is survived by her husband of 54 years David Chafer, three children, daughters Kelly (Chad) Baker, and Michelle (Jason) Fee and son Kurt Chafer, two grandchildren Austin (Alysa) Baker and William Poster Jr., sisters-in-law Diana Loshaw, Rheta Loshaw, Joyce Loshaw, and a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly. 

Johanna was preceded in death by her parents Ray and Majorie Loshaw, five brothers Richard Loshaw, Robert Loshaw, Larry Loshaw, Harold Loshaw, Terry Loshaw, best friend Ann Stout, and father and mother-in-law Ralph and Wilma Chafer.  The interment will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens and the family will announce the graveside service at a later date.
