It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our loving and devoted mother, Eileen Faith Schmidt (Faye). Faye passed away with her daughters by her side on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at the age of 76.
Faye was born on February 23, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Burnett F. and Katherine Eileen Murray. She grew up in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky and attended Dixie Heights High School. In October of 1964, she eloped and married her love, Lawrence Douglas Schmidt. In May of 1965, they welcomed their first daughter, Pamela, and in July of 1968, their second daughter, Lisa, was welcomed into the family.
Faye’s greatest love was her family. She cared deeply for her family and friends and always put the needs of others above her own. She did this not out of obligation but because of who she was. When her grandchildren were born, she stepped in to babysit while their parents worked. She did the same when her great grandchildren were born. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life and brought her so much joy and happiness. Faye was also a wonderful cook, she loved shopping and interior decorating, and took joy in helping others.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Douglas Schmidt, and her parents, Burnett F. and Katherine Eileen Murray. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Taylor (Doug) and Lisa Suttles (Randy); her grandchildren, Taylor Lenihan (Ryan), Colin Suttles, Chase Suttles, Adam Taylor (Amy), Bryan Taylor (Amber), and Zack Taylor; her great grandchildren, Logan, Riley, Taylor, Kyra, Charlie, Oaklyn and Cooper; her siblings Judy, Kathy, Patty (Ron), Roger and Marguerite (Bob), as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Taylor Mill, Kentucky. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral/ graveside service and a reception. Flowers may be sent to Floral Hills Funeral Home or memorial contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in mom’s name.
“A bouquet full of beautiful memories,
Dotted with a million tears,
Wishing God could have spared you,
If just for a few more years.
We love you, we miss you, and
We will always keep the memories of you alive”
